Why vote Conservative in the Local Elections?

20/4/2019

Waltham Abbey Conservatives councillors are all about making a difference in our town, maintaining and enhancing local services; These elections are not about national issues.

With regard to Brexit, we share residents’ disappointment; We voted and campaigned to leave the EU; and now, like many others, we feel frustrated that promises have been broken by national politicians.

In the district, across towns and parishes, local Conservatives councillors have avoided making cuts by running efficient and effective councils which maintain services and ensure rate payers get the best value for their money. Just this week, for the second time, Waltham Abbey Town Council has been given 'Quality Gold Status' as part of the Local Council Awards Scheme.

We are asking the residents of Waltham Abbey to vote Conservative on May 2nd so that we can continue the excellent work of the past few years which has seen the first Council housing in the town for more than 30 years, a £10M state of the art leisure centre and swimming pool in Ninefields, the latest 3G football pitches on the Town mead, the expanded and completely refurbished Epping Forest Museum in Sun Street.

The Conservative led district council has funded 3 additional Police officers to work exclusively in the district and this summer will see two further officers assigned to Waltham Abbey as part of Essex Polices’ Town Centre Teams initiative

Waltham Abbey Conservatives candidates would ask residents, when they vote in the upcoming local elections, that they do not reflect on the national political picture but focus on those local councillors who have and will continue to represent them best locally.

Eleanor Laing has been made a Dame in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Mrs Laing, who has been Member of Parliament for Epping Forest for 21 years, said the news came as an "amazing surprise".
Mrs Laing was a Shadow Minister for 12 years and has been a Deputy Speaker for the last four-and-a-half years.
She was appointed a member of the Privy Council, the formal body of advisers to the Queen, last November.
Commenting on her Damehood - announced in the Honours List which was officially published late last night, Mrs Laing said: "This is an amazing surprise but I am absolutely delighted.
"It has been a great honour to serve the people of Epping Forest for so many years, and to be able to continue to serve them as their Member of Parliament."

Neighbourhood Plan for Waltham Abbey

22/8/2016

Waltham Abbey is to formulate it's own Neighbourhood Plan.

To do so, we need to get as many Waltham Abbey residents involved as possible.

A Neighbourhood Plan is a new type of planning document. It is part of the new approach to planning, which aims to give local people more say about what goes on in their area. This is set out in the ‘Localism Act’ that came into force in April 2012.

Waltham Abbey Town Council wants to ensure that local people are involved in the choices that will help to shape our neighbourhood.

The aim of the Neighbourhood plan is to set out a vision for the area that reflects the views and feelings of local people with a real interest in their community.

The inaugural meeting for the WANP will be held at the Town Hall on the 12th September at 7pm

If you love Waltham Abbey, please do come and join in the discussions
