Ann Mitchell and her husband Morris, daughter Susan and son Mark have lived in Waltham Abbey over 30 years.
For the last seventeen years Ann has been the Director for Elderly Care in Waltham Forest until she recently retired in 2014
Ann was elected for the Ward North-East Waltham Abbey, representing both Town and District in the 2010 General Elections.
Over the last two years Ann has been the elected Mayor of Waltham Abbey for two consecutive years running and in the year 2013
attended over fifty civic duties.
Ann has a very high record of attending meetings at Town and District and at present is the Deputy Chair of both Plans West and the Finance and Performance Committee, her other committee's are Overview and Scrutiny , Safer Greener Scrutiny Panel plus the
Standards Committee. Town Committees are Plans West, Policy & Resources, Bars & licencing, Full Council, Festival Committee, Tourist Information Committee
One of the main projects Ann was involved in, was the new development of the childrens play park at the Town Mead in 2012 when completed Ann officially opened it as Mayor .
Her latest project was a four day exhibition at Waltham Abbey Town Hall commemorating the WW1, which proved to be a great success with over a thousand visitors, a new project is in the pipeline for 2015 depending on funding.
Ann's Priorities for Waltham Abbey are the following
1: Elderly Care- better care
2::Sixth form in Waltham Abbey for Education needs-
4: Affordable Housing give the younger gradation a chance to remain in the abbey
5: Protection of the Greenbelt leave it alone
6: Economic growth for Local Business more houses more work force more employment
7: Cleaner Greener Waltham Abbey needs a spring clean
